Saturday, a group of friends and I drove up to the local mountains to hit the (tobogganing) slopes. It was like the Winter Olympics once we got up there: we hit that hill holding nothing back. I think we set a record for tobog-o-train.
The trip up, however, was quite a trek. What can be done in under 2 hours took us nearly 6. But with a car full of 8 warm-blooded bodies, we did what it took to make the best of it. Road Trips tend to recenter me on that saying I throw around a lot on here: The Journey is the Destination. Had any of us carried the thought that the only reason we were traveling up that mountain was for snow and slopes, we all would have had an awful time. But that wasn’t the case. We knew the gettin there was as much a part of the trip as arrival. We made the most of what we had, and thoroughly enjoyed each other for the 9 hours total we were in the car.
(In case you were wondering: I did that day with about two hours of sleep thanks to a cup of coffee, and the previous post. I got home around 8pm, and slept for a solid 12 hours. Too fantastic.)

That snow reminded me of the one I left behind in Europe.
Wow, 9h in the car is crazy. I wonder how you enjoyed yourself
It was the company that made the trek enjoyable, for sure
I want that kind of snow! All we ever get is slush… and it’s only an inch thick so it’s good for nothing. I’ve never even gone toboganning!
In other news – I bought the coolest hat yesterday. It has ears! And big black button eyes! Incredibly ridiculous looking and at the same time insanely awesome.
Miss Magpie, you walk the line of incredibly ridiculous and insanely awesome.
And you walk it well.
Oh, and you should probably get yourself toboganning one of these days.
I lovelovelove road trips! I have never been toboganning, but it sounds great.
aren’t they the greatest!? Road trips are such an awesome way to get out of our natural habitat and live a lil, ya kno?
Tobogganing is one of those things that it’s as fun as you make it.
And with the group i was with…we made it fun!
Chase,
Hope all is well with you!
I am a dork and have not done a good job of keeping up with your blog. But hey, all the more fun posts to read through now

Ooh, tobogganing! It’s SO much fun, especially the crashes
Great blog. Just came across it on 20sb. Have to say though, being from New England, I am quite sick of the sight of snow, but this post is getting me pumped for a potential cross-country road trip I will be taking this summer.
Best,
Hannah Katy
